Texas Fires is designed to provide current data about wild fires in the Texas area. It takes information from both Inciweb.org and from USDA web sites to provide as much comprehensive information as possible.
The main screen is a google map showing where you are located and where the fires are located, to help the user understand where the fires are in relation to their current location. It is also possible to overlay the fire information with the thermal satellite data from the USDA to help locate the fires.
Please note that while the Satellite Thermal data is useful, it also will take time to load, and does take up significant memory on the iPhone and iPad. The application does download in a compressed format, and therefore reduces your data usage.
While all care has been taken to provide the information as accurately as possible, the application does rely on both an internet connection and on accurate data being provided by inciweb.org and USDA. We have noted that sometimes their data can get out of date.
We recommend that you utilise the official forms of communication regarding fires to ensure your safety and follow their instructions. We take no responsibility on actions people take based on the information provided by this application.
We do ask that users send feedback to P4G directly, as without this feedback we can not fix your particular issue and make the application suit your needs.
This application has been written by people who live in Victoria, Australia and have seen the devastation and loss that can be done by wild fires (bush fires) and hope that applications such as this can help people.
